Since x-ray radiation from space is absorbed by EarthΓÇÖs atmosphere, this image had to be taken from an Earth-orbiting satellite, the Einstein Observatory. X-ray emissions are associated with very high temperatures; the radiation seen here is thought to be generated by gas heated to temperatures of about 50 million degrees Kelvin.
